Gobi Tour

12 days jeep tour. From the capital of Genghis Khan, drive to unexplored corners of the Gobi desert, follow trails of dinosaur hunters. This remote and inaccessible area is home to wild asses, wild camels and desert gazelles and entertains visitors with tons of different and fantastic colors. Hiking, camel and horseback riding are the main activities. Tented overnights throughout tour, active cultural experience.

Gobi tour [12 days] DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day 1.

Arrival Upon arrival at the Buyant Ukhaa Airport in Ulaanbaatar, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in downtown. After check in there will be sighseeing in Ulaanbaatar. We will enjoy an impressive performance of traditional music and dance at 6 pm. The spectacular sounds of höömii (throat singing) accompanied by the cherished two-string horse-headed fiddle or morin khuur will be imprinted on your memory forever. Welcome Dinner will be in one of the best restaurants in the city.

Day 2.

Baga Gazryn Chuluu, Middle Gobi We will hit the road for the Mongolian countryside. Our destination will be 220 km southward in the beautiful region of Baga Gazryn Chuluu - a site of a huge granite formation in the middle of the Mongolian sandy plane. We will drive and hike around in the area, and visit the picturesque ruins of a small monastery hidden in a nice little protected valley. There are wood elms, growing on rocks Overnight in tourist camp.B+L=D

Day 3.

Tsagaan Suvarga, Middle Gobi Our next stop in the Middle Gobi Province will be an area of limestone rocks called White Stupa, about 30 meters tall and 100 meters long and shaped strangely as a result of a wind and water erosion for thousands of years. From a distance, it can be mistaken for the ruins of an ancient city. It down, it offers a magnificent view with rainbow colors. We will visit a cave called “horizontal and vertical” for its strange shape and formation. Overnight in tent .B+L=D

Day 4.

South Gobi

Day 5.

Yol Valley, South Gobi Today we will drive to South Gobi province with en route visit to Ulaan Suvarga, 20 km west of the Tsagaan Suvarga, another impressive rock formations. This time the color of the cliffs is not white, but red. That’s why this eerie place is called Red Stupa. We will visit Gurvan Saikhan National Park in South Gobi. At its entrance we will visit a small museum of Natural History to get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the National Park as well as with some dinosaur bones and eggs found in the Province. We will drive another 10 km to the parking area and a pleasant hike thru the Yolyn Am (Lammergeier Valley) will take us to a gorge with ice that exists for most of the year. This valley is famous for its breathtaking beauty and astonishing scenery - the thick ice in the middle of the Gobi. Overnight stay at Gobi-Miraj camp

Day 6.

Khongor Sand Dunes, South Gobi Today we will drive west to the extraordinary sand dunes of Khongoryn Els. This is one of the most scenic areas of the Province In the evening, we will climb up to the Singing Dune, one of the highest dunes, to see the breathtaking view of the surrounding area and slide back on a plastic bag if you have one handy. The moving sand in the wind or when walked on gives out a definite note and makes a noise similar to an airplane passing by, that's why this particular part of the dunes is called "Singing" or "Sounding" would be more precise. Overnight stay in a Ger camp near the dunes.

Day 7.

Camel Riding at the Khongor Sand Dunes We will stay at the Sand Dunes another day to discover this magnificent place on camelback. Mongolia is home to 2/3 of the two-humped Bactrian camels in the world. It is a gentle, calm and extraordinary patient animal and can carry on without water for a month. The Khongor Sand Dunes are the perfect place for camel riding. Bet, you never rode a Bactrian camel, riding a Bactrian camel is much more comfortable than the camel in Sahara, India or anywhere else. Its two humps support you from both sides and easy pace will comfort you so much, that you might fall asleep after a while. But don’t fall asleep, see the spectacular view of the surrounding area.

Day 8.

Bayanzag, South Gobi In early 1920s an American expedition in search of ancient human remains led by Roy Chapman Andrews discovered accidentally dinosaur fossils and eggs at Bayanzag locally known as a place rich in saksaul trees. In the western world, this area is well known for the number of unearthed dinosaur remains as Flaming Cliffs penned by Andrews for the red tall rocks formed as a result of wind and water erosion. White fossilized bones are still found nowadays. Overnight in tourist camp.B+L=D

Day 9.

Ongiin khiid Drive to Ongi Temple. Sighseeing small old monastery and experience Mongolian Untouched nature. Overnight in tent.B+L=D

Day 10.

Drive to Rashaant camp. Overnight stay in a ger

Day 11.

Drive back to Ulaanabaatar Overnight stay at Hotel

Day 12.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to airport for your departure.
